neuroma
A neuroma is a painful growth of nerve tissue in the foot that usually occurs between the third and fourth toe. Neuromas are caused by irritation to the nerve as a result of poorly fitting shoes, stress on the foot, poor foot mechanics or by trauma.
Symptoms are pain between the affected toes, tingling and numbness in the toes, swelling, a sharp burning pain in the toes, or a painful lump.
Laser therapy has shown to be very effective in reducing the pain associated with a neuroma by reducing the inflammation of the nerve as well as increasing circulation to the affected area.
